Having just completed the Thanksgiving Holiday, with all the food, family and festivities, what can we do to carry the gratitude of Thanksgiving into the Christmas Season with our families? As I’ve pondered this question, I’m reminded by my 8 year old’s Thanksgiving day exclamation, “My whole family is here! This is sweet!” In her statement I heard appreciation for the present moment and the people around her. ("And a little child shall lead them.") I often need to search for what I’m grateful for, especially during the holidays when there’s so much to pay attention to, or be distracted by. The practice of being grateful for something each day is one way to focus our intentions and energy during the holiday season.
What if we created a practice of “Thanksliving” each day, not just during a specific holiday season? Below are several suggestions around family mealtime submitted by conscious parents just like you. If you have a suggestion to add to our list, send an email to info@unityfamilymatters.org
